Ann's Piano studio
Since 2004 I have been teaching all levels from children to adults, from beginner to advanced levels. For young students, the focus of lessons is on developping music appreciation by applying basic concepts such as chord structures and cadences, solfege, and rhythm to various styles of music such from classical to pop. Adult lessons will simultaneously cover classical technique, sight reading, listening, and theory. In addition to music, we will also discuss piano technique, especially on the use of weight in relation to sonority.
As an active pianist, flutist, improvisor, and composer, I have performed in Seattle, Boston, New York, and Japan. I currently perform on a regular basis in Brooklyn and in Manhattan, New York. Classical repertoire includes works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Prokofiev, and Poulenc. Former professors are Ed Bedner (Berklee College of Music), Christopher Harding (Brevard College), and Carol Crawford (Olympia, Washington). As the winner of Capital Area youth Symphony Associations Concerto Competition in 2000, I performed the Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2.
Lessons are held at my apartment studio, located in Brooklyn's Fort Greene and Clinton Hill area. Please email with any inquiries. ---- Listen.drop@gmail.com
